A Fresh Start for Your Smile
WELCOMING PATIENTS OF ALL AGES AND BACKGROUNDS
The team at Zion Family Dentistry & Implant Center proudly serves families in the Zion community and surrounding areas with judgment-free, patient-first care. Whether it’s been six months or six years since your last visit, your first appointment with us is all about understanding where you’re at now and how we can help you move forward.
Our team speaks English and Spanish. We always explain treatment options in simple, honest terms. From babies and kids to teens and adults, everyone is welcome here.
What to Expect at Your First Appointment
A COMPLETE OVERVIEW OF YOUR ORAL HEALTH
Your first dental appointment will take approximately 90 minutes. Most first visits include a comprehensive evaluation, X-rays, and a professional cleaning. However, if you need a deep cleaning due to gum disease, our team will explain why and schedule that as a separate visit. You’ll always be informed and involved at every step of our evaluation.
Babies are also welcome to our practice. We love helping kids feel safe and comfortable, and we aim to make their early dental experiences positive and fun. Children feel right at home here during their very first appointments, and we can’t wait to welcome your kids too.
Advanced Digital Imaging
CLEAR DIAGNOSTICS WITH MINIMAL RADIATION
Understanding your current oral health is the first step to protecting your long-term health. That’s why our team at Zion Family Dentistry & Implant Center uses advanced imaging technology during new patient appointments.
Your first visit typically includes a full-mouth series of radiographs (X-rays) with bitewings. We use digital X-rays, which require minimal radiation exposure. They also provide clearer images compared to traditional film X-rays and have no long wait times. At our practice, we also use a wider-view X-ray system that only requires the patient to hold a small device between their teeth.
Cone-beam imaging is available when necessary, though it is not part of routine first visits. We reserve this 3D scan for use in complex diagnostic cases, pain-related concerns, and implant planning.
The technology and tools we use help our team to have a clear, accurate picture of your dental health. Establishing a baseline during your first visit also allows us to track changes over time.
A Transparent, Collaborative Approach
PERSONALIZED RECOMMENDATIONS WITHOUT PRESSURE
Once your X-rays and evaluation are complete, our team will:
- Take periodontal readings to evaluate your gum health
- Share a summary of your oral health status
- Discuss your overall health and long-term oral health goals
- Provide personalized recommendations to help you reach those goals at a pace that works for you
If your case is complex, your dentist may need some additional time to review your scans and thoughtfully prepare options for you to consider. In this situation, our team will follow up later that day or later in the week with a comprehensive treatment plan.
Financial Consultation

Our team is always transparent about fees and happy to talk you through all the options.
